Game of the Week is BACK! We’re looking for volunteers interested in production of live high school sports in the Vail Valley this fall. Hone your skills, explore the world of video, and get experience on a professional production. No experience necessary. These positions are learning opportunities designed to help you leave each shoot with increased confidence. Think of it as on-the-job training!

Looking for a new creative outlet? If you’re excited about “Twisters,” “Inside Out 2,” “Deadpool & Wolverine” or “Alien: Romulus” this blockbuster season, perhaps filmmaking is for you. And you can become a Community Producer today with High Five Access Media.

As the Vail Valley’s nonprofit community access media center, High Five Access Media provides government, nonprofit and educational coverage of local current events. But we are also known for our free video production workshops.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! At High Five Access Media, we’re honored to work with some of the valley’s dedicated educators on bringing media studies to their classrooms. We’d like to highlight some of the people who make our school-based educational opportunities so rewarding for our students and staff alike.

We’re taking a moment to spotlight Eagle Valley High School on our Community Technology Blog - the CLOG. 

EVHS has been a longtime partner of ours. The Eagle Valley Student Media club is a hard-working collection of Intro to Journalism and Advanced Journalism students who produce web articles on eaglevalleystudentmedia.org and weekly episodes of the broadcast news show, EVTV. 

Big news! We’re offering weekly open Lab Hours for member Community Producers to learn and practice their media-making skills. 

Lab Hours are hosted here at the studio in Avon every Thursday with alternating hours. The first open Lab Hours are Thursday, Feb. 22 from 1 to 5 p.m. The following week, Feb. 29, will be from 4 to 8 p.m., March 7 will be 1 to 5 p.m., and so on.

From welcoming new members who have never played basketball before to building the program up, junior team captain Noelle Razee shows her dedication to the Vail Christian High School Girls Varsity Basketball team every day.

Last year, five seniors graduated, and this year, the team is mostly filled out by players who have never played the sport before

A sophomore starter bringing defensive skills to a senior-led offensive team, Beau Suman has made a remarkable impact on the Battle Mountain High School Boys’ Basketball Team.

Suman is a shooting guard and has been a starter for both his freshman and sophomore years. He has been playing basketball for as long as he can remember. His dad is the reason he loves the sport. 

“My dad pushed me to play basketball and then it became my passion,” he said.

High Five Film Camp is back, and we’re stoked. Our students from last year’s iteration are continuing to grow as video producers, and we’re so proud of all of them! We wanted to take a moment to highlight one student, Gabriella Gallegos.

Gabby signed up for our Film Camp last summer not knowing exactly what to expect from the video production field. Her experience in Speech & Debate at Battle Mountain High School helped her realize she was interested in pursuing a career in broadcast journalism, but wasn’t sure what the experience would look like.

Alessandra ‘Ale’ Caballero plays for her team and leads by example, that’s what makes her extraordinary. 

Senior Caballero is the starting point guard and captain of the Battle Mountain High School Varsity Girls Basketball team. This is her second as a varsity starter.
