From welcoming new members who have never played basketball before to building the program up, junior team captain Noelle Razee shows her dedication to the Vail Christian High School Girls Varsity Basketball team every day.

Last year, five seniors graduated, and this year, the team is mostly filled out by players who have never played the sport before

A sophomore starter bringing defensive skills to a senior-led offensive team, Beau Suman has made a remarkable impact on the Battle Mountain High School Boys’ Basketball Team.

Suman is a shooting guard and has been a starter for both his freshman and sophomore years. He has been playing basketball for as long as he can remember. His dad is the reason he loves the sport. 

“My dad pushed me to play basketball and then it became my passion,” he said.

High Five Film Camp is back, and we’re stoked. Our students from last year’s iteration are continuing to grow as video producers, and we’re so proud of all of them! We wanted to take a moment to highlight one student, Gabriella Gallegos.

Gabby signed up for our Film Camp last summer not knowing exactly what to expect from the video production field. Her experience in Speech & Debate at Battle Mountain High School helped her realize she was interested in pursuing a career in broadcast journalism, but wasn’t sure what the experience would look like.

Alessandra ‘Ale’ Caballero plays for her team and leads by example, that’s what makes her extraordinary. 

Senior Caballero is the starting point guard and captain of the Battle Mountain High School Varsity Girls Basketball team. This is her second as a varsity starter.

Our volunteer Riwa Sherpa moved from Los Angeles to Eagle County without a clear idea on how to get involved with the local film community. He wanted to make good use of his degree in filmmaking, but wasn’t sure how he could make connections and continue learning and sharing his craft.

It’s been an amazing year at High Five. Certainly, the number of youth, residents and nonprofits we’ve impacted is greater than ever. And we’re not done. In 2024, we’ll improve and increase educational opportunities for everyone in the valley, whether that be volunteer events to gain experience on professional video productions and have fun, new and exciting workshops, consistent coverage of local government and elections, and so much more.

High Five Access Media is bringing you coverage of local high school sports this fall, live on our YouTube channel.

Game of the Week includes mulit-sport coverage of several local high schools, presented by Alpine Bank. Our coverage includes local volunteer talent behind the camera.

For those who don’t have experience in videography, we offer educational workshops to learn the basics of camera operations and video editing, which begin in September. Aspiring filmmakers – or anyone who wants to learn – can sign up for annual membership and an Orientation session to get started. No prior experience is required.

As a nonprofit community access media center, we believe that everyone has the right to free speech and self-expression. We provide you with the tools you need to tell your story. We also provide personalized mentorship and equipment reservations: just tell us what you’re interested in learning, and we’ll find a way to make it happen.

Calling all aspiring teen filmmakers! We’re hosting a week-long film summer camp for creative-thinking students to learn the art of filmmaking, including writing, shooting and editing.

Students aged 14 through 2023 graduates are welcome to apply. No prior experience in filmmaking is required. All applicants need is a willingness to learn and a love of movies or TV.

Spring is in the air, and so is our new workshop schedule! If you are an aspiring filmmaker who wants to learn how to create high-quality videos for television, social media, and online platforms, you’ll want to sign up for these workshops.
