Heart of Vail
Gore Creek, the lifeblood of Vail, is suffering from pollution. Urban runoff, loss of riparian vegetation, and inadequate storm water infrastructure, have led to poisoning of the creek. Aquatic insect populations, an indicator of the riparian ecosystem’s health, have disappeared. Fish populations have dwindled. This short documentary seeks to educate Vail residents, stream side property owners, and government officials of the peril the creek faces, and persuade the community to do its part to clean the Gore. This video was produced in partnership with fellow nonprofit the Eagle River Watershed Council, a local watchdog of area waterways. Winner, Best Documentary, Hometown Media Awards, Alliance for Community Media.
