Air pollution plagued humanity through the 20th Century and continues to worsen in many world regions today. More than 90 percent of the global population breathes air exceeding World Health Organization pollution standards. Dr. Jason West is a Professor of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
